Live improvisations with viola and electronics

Composer/performers Sebastian Adams (viola) and Jonathan Nangle (guitar, electronics) play an improvised set in the beautiful Fumbally Stables, an intimate space for their delicately spun textures and distinctive sound combinations.

Nangle, in a recent release with Crash Ensemble ‘Pause’, was described by The Irish Times as “an explorer of soft-grained textures of string on bow”, while Adams has been praised by The Journal of Music for his delicate and chaotic music that “toys with the listener’s sense of expectation”.

About the Performers:

Jonathan Nangle is a composer whose work explores many diverse fields ranging from notated acoustic and electro-acoustic composition, through live and spatially distributed electronics, to video, field recording, interactive sound installation and electronic improvisation.

Sebastian Adams is an Irish composer, viola player and concert producer, currently Composer-in-Residence with RTÉ lyric fm. Sebastian founded and co-directs Kirkos, co-directs Fishamble Sinfonia, and is a former chair of the Irish Composers Collective. He has organised premieres of c. 400 pieces, and has performed in well over 60 of those. As a performer, Sebastian is active mainly as an interpreter of contemporary Irish music and as an improviser.
