services & support

  • Through the association's newsletter members can keep in touch with AIC activities and opportunities for Irish composers.

  • Members of the AIC are automatically members of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). The AIC sends a delegate to the annual ISCM World Music Days and ensures Irish representation in the festival.

  • Members of the AIC are automatically recognised for CMC's services.

  • AIC is recognised internationally as a composers' union, therefore AIC is frequently asked to send delegates to international forums/conferences that concern the composer's position.

  • With the assistance of IMRO and CMC, members can avail of informed advice on legal and administrative matters, e.g. contracts, retrieval of master tapes, royalties.

  • AIC lobbies bodies that make decisions which materially affect composers and represents members' interests at many levels of music decision-making in Ireland.

  • AIC represents members in other organisations: The Forum for Music in Ireland, European Composers' Working Group etc.

  • AIC is in the process of publishing a handbook of advice for the young composer.

  • Composition competitions in association with Mostly Modern and IMRO, and with the Feis Ceoil

  • Membership discounts on certain music supplies and services.

The Contemporary Music Centre and the Association of Irish Composers

FEE GUIDELINES ( for concert music commissions 2005/2006)

The Contemporary Music Centre and the Association of Irish Composers wish to ensure that composers receive adequate remuneration for their work and have jointly drawn up the following guidelines. The fees and categories given below should be regarded as a useful indicator rather than a prescribed structure. The lower end of each band is intended for less established composers; senior composers will command a higher fee and, in such cases, the upper figure should be taken as a median rather
than a maximum.
