21st November 2009 - Recent composers' workshop

November Workshop 2009

Irish composers recently participated in a workshop of music for percussion quartet. Richard O'Donnell and the RIAM Percussion Ensemble spent the morning of the 22nd November workshopping scores from Grainne Mulvey, Jerome de Bromhead, Rob Casey, Francis Heery and Amanda Feery, in the Barry Room of the National Concert Hall. Ian Wilson facilitated the workshop process. The same afternoon the five pieces were performed and recorded in a live concert. There was a good attendance at this part of the event.

At the moment the recordings are being mastered, and when Richard gets a chance to hear them back, one of the pieces will be selected for a performance in the Ensemble's 2010 tour, in New York, (May/June).
